Highlights
A series of 2-arylindoles were synthesized and characterized through spectral analysis
All the synthesized compounds elicited a synergistic effect against methicillin-resistant S. aureus Sp6, drug resistance, and efflux pump genes strain. 2-(2-Hydroxyphenyl)-1Hindoles 4g, 4j, and 4k were combined with tetracyclines, thereby decreasing the minimum inhibitory concentration of tetracyclines
2-Arylindoles were prepared in a manner similar to previously reported Fischer indole synthesis (Hughes, 1993)
