Abstract
Title transformation involving catalytic epoxidation, Curtius rearrangement and acidic hydrolysis has been accomplished. This synthetic sequence offers a novel route from a partial microbial side chain degradation product of natural sterols into useful precursors of antinflammatory, antiandrogen and gestagen pharmaceuticals.
