Synthesis, molecular structure and NMR behaviour of [9,9-(PMe 2Ph) 2- arachno9,6,8-PtS 2B 7H 7]: Direct evidence for the ten-vertex borane vertex-flip mechanism of isomerization

Abstract

The ten-vertex cluster compound [9,9-(PMe 2Ph) 2- arachno-9,6,8-PtS 2B 7H 7] is fluxional between its two enantiomers via a vertex-flip of the {Pt(PMe 2Ph) 2} group between the η 3-10,4,8 and η 3-10,5,6 positions of the formal nine-vertex arachno-shaped {S 2B 7H 7} ligand moiety.
