Abstract

ABSTRACTDevelopment of a new coating named ‘Zincal’ is introduced for future smart cities’ infrastructures. Pure Zn and newly developed ‘Zincal’ (a composition of Zn–Al) thermal sprayed (TS) coatings were applied onto low-carbon steel to investigate coating’s life against the corrosive and dusty environment for future smart cities’ infrastructures (big bridges, buildings, poles, stadiums, railway structures etc.). Therefore, for both coatings, salt spray humidity and microbial tests were carried out. The result shows that Zincal coating has promising anti-corrosion properties under combat microbiological corrosion attack and is also suitable in the humid and salt containing environment.
