Abstract

A novel copper (II) ternary complex with the formula [Cu (HL) (Py) (H2O)] (H3L˭N-(2-Propionic Acid)-salicyloyl hydrazone, Py = pyridine) has been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The Cu atom in the complex is five-coordinated by one N and two O atoms of HL and one N atom from pyridine, these four atoms are located at the bottom of the square-pyramid, the other coordinating atom is O atom of H2O locating at the apical position. Intermolecular hydrogen bonds link the complex to form a 2D super molecule network.
