Abstract
{1-[(N,N-Dimethylammonio)methyl]ferrocen-2-yl}-6-(p-bromophenyl)dodecamethyl-n-hexasilane picrate was synthesized from [2-(N,N-dimethylaminomethyl)ferrocenyl]lithium and 1‑chloro-6-(p-bromophenyl)dodecamethyl-n-hexasilane and subsequent reaction with picric acid. The obtained product was characterized by NMR spectroscopy, mass spectroscopy, and single crystal X-ray diffraction. The title compound C37H59BrFeN4O7Si6 crystallizes in the monoclinic crystal system with space group P21/c and unit cell parameters, a = 7.2850(3) Å, b = 31.820(1) Å, c = 20.6491(8) Å, β= 92.391(3) °and Z = 4. The picrate ion is heavily disordered (49/51%) and a disorder of the main molecule must be assumed with site occupation of less than 5% for the minor component.
