Abstract

A novel complex, namely [Cd(PDA)(H2O)2] (PDA = 1,4-phenylenediacetate), has been synthesized under mild condition and characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectrum, thermogravimetric analysis and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis shows that the complex crystallizes in the monoclinic space group C 2/c with unit cell parameters a = 21.7429(19) A, b = 6.6130(5) A, c = 16.5224(12) A, β = 101.430(4), V = 2328.6(3) A3, Z = 8. This coordination polymer features a 3D pillar-layered coordination framework constructed from two-dimensional (2D) Cadmium-carboxylate layers and Cd(PDA) pillars via hydrogen bonds. The TGA indicates that the complex is stable under 88 °C and lost all the coordination water molecules at 132 °C. The spectroscopy and electrochemical properties of the complex has also been described. [Cd(PDA)(H2O)2] (PDA = 1,4-phenylenediacetate), has been synthesized under mild condition and characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectrum, thermogravimetric analysis and single-crystal X-ray diffraction.
