Abstract

Two novel coordination polymers formulated as [Ln(L)(DMF)]n [Ln = Tb (1), Dy (2); DMF = N, N-dimethylformamide, H3L = 5′-carboxyl-[1,1′:3′,1″-terphenyl]-4,4″-dicarboxylic acid] have been synthesized under solvothermal conditions. Structural analyses reveal that the two compounds are isostructural, and each forms a three-dimensional (3D) structure possessing one-dimensional (1D) channels filled with coordinated DMF molecules. 1D infinitely inorganic lanthanide chains are linked in parallel to each other by L3 − ligands in [1, − 1, 2] and [5, 7, 3] directions, leading to 3D frameworks. Moreover, the photoluminescence properties of 1 and 2 have been investigated. The resulting materials show strong solid-state emissions in the visible region at room temperature.
