Abstract

Sr2LnMgNbO7 (Ln = La, Nd, Sm) novel compounds were prepared via standard solid-state reaction method, and their crystal structures and microwave dielectric properties were systematically investigated for the first time. X-ray diffraction (XRD) results indicated that pure Sr2LaMgNbO7 and Sr2NdMgNbO7 ceramics were synthesized, while some additional diffraction peaks corresponding to the perovskite-type secondary phases were observed in the Sm composition. Rietveld analyses indicated that Sr2LnMgNbO7 (Ln = La, Nd) compounds belonged to the n = 2 type Ruddlesden–Popper structure with general formula of An+1BnO3n+1, and their space groups were confirmed to be I4/mmm with tetragonal crystal symmetry. The detailed structural information of Sr2LaMgNbO7 and Sr2NdMgNbO7 compounds were revealed and their corresponding microwave dielectric properties were evaluated.
