Abstract

A novel 3d-4f heterometallic coordination polymer, namely, {[NdZn(H(2)pimda)(3)(Hpimda)(H2O)(2)]center dot H2O}(n) (1), (H(3)pimda=2-propyl-1H-imidazole-4,5-dicarboxylic acid) has been hydrothermally synthesized by using Nd2O3, Zn (NO3)(2).6H(2)O and H(3)pimda as raw materials, and characterized by elemental analysis, IR, TG analysis and single crystal X-ray diffraction. The complex 1 crystallizes in the monoclinic system, space group P2(1)/c with a= 1.190 78(2) nm, b=1.307 84(3) nm, c=2.740 70(5) nm, beta=97.930 0(10)degrees, V=4.227 41(14) nm(3), D-c=1.652 g.cm(-3), Z=4, R=0.049 2 and wR=0.111 5 (I > 2 sigma(I)). Polymer 1 possesses two-dimensional (2D) network, which further build three-dimensional (3D) supramolecular architecture via N -H ... O hydrogen-bonding interactions. Variable temperature magnetic susceptibility studies reveal that complex 1 displays weak antiferromagnetic coupling between the neighboring Nd(III) ions. CCDC: 906826.
