Abstract

Two new polyphosphates Rb2CaBi2P4O15 and Rb3SrBiP4O14 were synthesized through the conventional high-temperature solid-state reactions. Single crystal measurement indicates that Rb2CaBi2P4O15 crystallizes in the centrosymmetric space group P21/c and Rb3SrBiP4O14 crystallizes in the noncentrosymmetric space group P212121. Rb2CaBi2P4O15 consists of [CaO6], [BiO6], [BiO5], [P2O7] dimer and isolated [PO4] tetrahedron, while Rb3SrBiP4O14 consists of [BiO5], [SrO7] and [P2O7] dimer. They are both composed of [P2O7] dimer and the Bi–P2O7 ring. In addition, the synthesis, IR spectra, UV–vis–NIR diffuse reflectance spectroscopy data, thermal stability and theoretical calculation have been reported.
