Abstract

Abstract The title compound, C 16 H 9 F 2 NO 2 , was synthesized, characterized by spectroscopic techniques (FT-IR, UV–visible, 1 H NMR, TGA) and finally the three dimensional structure was confirmed by X-ray diffraction studies. The title compound is thermally stable upto 230 °C and shows the UV absorption peak at 325 nm. In the crystal structure, molecules are connected through intermolecular hydrogen bonds of the type O—H⋅⋅⋅O and short contacts (C—F⋅⋅⋅π and π⋅⋅⋅π). An intramolecular hydrogen bonds of the type C—H⋅⋅⋅O and C—H⋅⋅⋅N were observed. The short contacts are analyzed and visualized using Hirshfeld surfaces computational methods. Intercontacts of the type H⋅⋅⋅H (25.9%), F⋅⋅⋅H (22.5%), C⋅⋅⋅H (12.4%), H⋅⋅⋅O (10%), F⋅⋅⋅O (3.1%), F⋅⋅⋅C (3.4%), O⋅⋅⋅C (2.5%), N⋅⋅⋅H (2.1%), C⋅⋅⋅N (2.5%), F⋅⋅⋅F (0.2%), O⋅⋅⋅O (0.6%) and N⋅⋅⋅N (0.3%) were observed and respective 2D fingerprint plots were plotted.
