Abstract

Iridium(III) complexes with near-infrared (NIR) emission are still less well developed. In this work, two new NIR emissive mono- and dinuclear iridium complexes were designed and synthesized via introducing the tetraphenlyethene Schiff base ligands. Interestingly, both complexes display mechanochromic luminescent (MCL) behavior, and the MCL mechanism can be attributed to the atypical physical phase transformations from amorphization to crystallization.
