Abstract

The novel Yb(III) complex based on 1,4-bis(pyrazol-1-yl)terephthalic acid(H2L) which was synthesized and characterized. The interactions of the complex with fish sperm DNA(FS-DNA) was explored using UV absorption and fluorescence spectra analyses methods. The experimental results showed that the complex could bind to DNA via an intercalative mode. Flow cytometric analysis indicated that this complex induced apoptosis of HeLa (human cervix epithelia carcinoma cells) tumor cell lines. Moreover, MTT results indicated that complex 1 exhibited the greatest antitumor activities against the tested cell lines HeLa, with an IC50 values 13.51 ± 2.08 μM.
