Abstract

Some novel amphiphilic ligands were synthesized by the reaction of diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid (DTPA) dianhydride and octadecylester of tyrosine or phenylalanine. Their paramagnetic Gd III, Yb III and Mn II metal complexes were also synthesized and characterized. The amphipathic metal complexes were inserted into the membrane of liposomal vesicles and the liposomes bearing metal complexes were obtained. The paramagnetic metal labeled liposomes show high spin-lattice relaxivity ( R 1) on the surrounding water protons.
