Abstract

Polyaniline was synthesized by the chemical oxidative polymerization of aniline. Poly aniline (PANI) blended with polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) which prepared by solution cast method using N-Methyl Pyrolidone (NMP).The polyaniline powder was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). In this paper we study the optical properties of PANI/PVA blends. Include optical transmission, optical constant, dielectric constants, optical conductivity, and band gaps. This study shows that the absorption increases and transmission decreases as PANI concentration increases in the blend. The extinction coefficient, refractive index, real and imaginary parts and average refractive index values were found to increase with increasing PANI concentration
