Abstract

Pure SrWO4 nanoparticles were successfully synthesized by sonochemical method with the aid of strontium salt and sodium tungstate dihydrate in water without adding surfactant, capping agent or template. To the best of authors’ knowledge, it is the first time that SrWO4 was synthesized by ultrasonic method. The structural, morphological and optical properties of as-obtained products were characterized by techniques such as X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive X-ray microanalysis, and ultraviolet–visible spectroscopy. The magnetic properties of as-prepared SrWO4 nanoparticles were also investigated with vibrating sample magnetometer. The photocatalytic properties of as-synthesized SrWO4 were evaluated by degradation of methyl orange as water contaminant.
