Abstract

Two facial tricarbonylrhenium(I) compounds, fac-[Re(CO)3(urterpy)].NO3 (1) (urterpy = 4′-(5-(uracil-5-methyleneamino)pentanoxy)-2,2′:6′,2″-terpyridine) and fac-[Re2(CO)6(μ-bzterpy)Cl2] (2) (bzterpy = 4′-(5-(benzothiazole-2-methyleneamino)pentanoxy)-2,2′:6′,2″-terpyridine) were isolated and characterized by IR, NMR, UV–Vis and emission spectroscopy. Single crystal X-ray diffraction data of 1 and bzterpy were collected. The DNA interactions of the formulated metal complexes were probed via UV–Vis DNA-binding, gel electrophoresis studies and molecular docking simulations. In the cyclic voltammograms (CVs) of 1 and 2, metal-based Re(0/I) and Re(I/II) redox couples were observed.
