Abstract

New isonicotinohydrazone compounds, N’ -(3-bromobenzylidene)isonicotinohydrazide ( 1 ) and N’ -(2,3-difluorobenzylidene)isonicotinohydrazide ( 2 ), were prepared and structurally characterized by elemental analysis, IR, UV and 1 H NMR spectra, and single crystal X-ray determination. Compound 1 crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P 2 1 / n with unit cell dimensions a = 7.600(2) A, b = 11.365(2) A, c = 14.412(2) A, β = 101.748(2)o, V = 1218.7(4) A 3 , Z = 4, R 1 = 0.0335, and wR 2 = 0.0745. Compound 2 crystallizes in the triclinic space group P -1 with unit cell dimensions a = 7.6241(6) A, b = 11.3937(9) A, c = 14.335(1) A, α = 79.664(1)o, β = 75.990(1)o, γ = 71.159(1)o, V = 1136.5(2) A 3 , Z = 4, R 1 = 0.0345, and wR 2 = 0.0940.
