Abstract

A novel nickel molybdenum complex with the 2,6-pyridine dicarboxylic acid ligand was successfully synthesized and characterized by thermogravimetric analysis and single crystal X-ray crystallography. The single-crystal X-ray data revealed that the structure is a hydrated 1-D polymer with two different Ni sites. The synthesized complex was then used as a new precursor for the preparation of the related nickel molybdate nanoparticles. The crystallinity and morphology of the nickel molybdate nanoparticles were characterized by powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmittance electron microscopy (TEM), and Photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy. A novel nickel molybdenum complex with the 2,6-pyridine dicarboxylic acid ligand was synthesized. The results confirmed that monodispersed nanoparticles of NiMoO4 were obtained by thermal decomposition of the complex at 450°C for 8 h.
