Abstract

A homoleptic ruthenium(II) complex with the ligand (5′-methyl-2,2′-bipyridine-6-carboxylate) has been prepared and characterized by elemental analysis, FT-IR, 1H, 13C NMR 1D and 2D and electronic absorption spectroscopy. The X-ray crystal structure of the complex has also been determined. It crystallizes in the triclinic crystal system space group P 1 ¯ , exhibiting a distorted octahedral geometry around the ruthenium atom.
