Abstract

In this manuscript, new Schiff bases (L1, L2) and their L1-Pd(II), L2-Pd(II) complexes were synthesized. The structures of the synthesized Schiff bases and Pd(II) complexes were determined with the aid of FT-IR, 1H and 13C NMR, elemental analysis, TGA, magnetic susceptibility, mass analysis, powder X-ray diffraction analysis and UV–vis methods. The catalytic activities of L1-Pd(II) and L2-Pd(II) were examined in Suzuki–Miyaura and Mizoroki–Heck C-C coupling reactions. This study clearly shows that palladium complexes based Schiff base ligands are versatile and effective catalysts for reactions important in the synthesis of sensitive and fine chemicals. They are suitable for catalyzing a wide range of reactions under mild experimental conditions.
