Abstract

Eleven new adducts of bis(S-ethyltrithiocarbonato)nickel(II) with heterocyclic amines have been described. Structural features of adducts isolated in the solid state are established by several techniques using elemental analysis, molar conductance, magnetic measurements, TGA-DTA and spectroscopic studies which include FTIR, UV-Vis, mass. These studies suggest that adducts have the general formula (Ni(S2CSC2H5)2L2) where L = cyano-, amino-, chloro-, ethylpyridine. Antifungal activities of these adducts have been carried out against the fungal strain Sclerotium rolfsii and Fusarium oxysporium and some of these adducts showed noticeable activity against the fungus. Various studies support the distorted octahedral geometry around Ni(II) ion.
