Abstract

This work includes the synthesis of heterocyclic compounds and azomethines starting from tranexamic acid. The benzimidazole C2 was prepared by mixing equal molar amounts of tranexamic acid with 4-methyl-o-phenylenediamine). Compounds C13-C18 were prepared by the reaction of tranexamic acid with the aromatic aldehydes. The oxazolidine (C19) was synthesized from the reaction of the compound C13 with hydroxyacetic acid. The synthesized compounds were identified by physical properties such as melting point, color change, and spectral data (Fourier transform infrared and mass). The effectiveness of the compounds C2, C13, C15, C17, and C19 was estimated as antioxidants outside the body (in vitro) and by three methods, namely, reducing power assay, scavenging of hydrogen peroxide, and phosphomolybdenum method.. KEYWORDS :Antioxidant, Azomethine, Benzimidazole, Oxazolidine, Tranexamic acid.
