Abstract

The current study is a synthesis and investigates the magnetic, dielectric, and DC-electric characteristics of Ni1-xCdxFe2O4 NPs synthesized by the sol–gel auto-combustion method. A single phase, cubic geometry, spinel structure, and ferrite phase of Ni1-xCdxFe2O4 NPs validated by the X-ray diffraction data. The observed lattice constant (a) was estimated to be 8.354 to 8.691 Å ±0.002 Å; whereas the calculated value has lied within 8.517 to 8.924 Å ±0.002 Å. The Debay-Scherrer method revealed that the crystallite size (t) ranged from ∼ 20.78 nm to ∼ 27.86 nm. The scanning electron micrograph (SEM images) of Ni1-xCdxFe2O4 NPs have shown the fused grains spherical in shape. According to the Arrhenius relation, the activation energy (E) ranged between 0.02 and 0.07 eV. As a result of the action of non-magnetic Cd2+ ions on the magnetic Ni2+ and Fe3+ ions in Ni1-xCdxFe2O4 NPs, the magnetic parameters saturation magnetization (Ms), coercivity (Hc), and magneton number (nB) have been seen to be lowered in comparison to the undoped NiFe2O4 ferrite.
