Abstract

A new Cd(II) polymer [Cd(btc)(4,4′-bipyridine)]n 1 (H4btc = Biphenyl-2,3,3′,5′-tetracarboxylic acid) was synthesized under hydrothermal conditions. The compound crystallizes Biphenyl-2,3,3′,5′-tetracarboxylic acid with a = 10.258(16) Å, b = 11.749(19) Å, c = 33.27(5) Å, α = 90°, β = 92.21(2)°, γ = 90°, Z = 2,V = 4007(11) Å3, in the Monoclinic system, space group P2(1)/c, μ = 1.108 mm−1, Mr = 1621.59, F(000) = 1594, Dc = 1.344 Mg/m3, the final R = 0.0706 and wR = 0.1807 for 7459 observed reflections with I > 2σ(I). The compound presents a three-dimensional (3 D) network extended by both 4,4′-bipyridine ligands and btc4− anions in which the btc4− anions employ a chelating coordination mode. The structure could be described as a (3,5)-connected 3 D network with(4.5.7)(42.67.8)(43.52.6.73.8) topology net From the topology point of view. Elemental analyses, Infrared spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis and the single-crystal X-ray diffraction properties of 1 are also investigated.
