Abstract

The CO substitution reaction of Re 2(CO) 10 with Ph 2PCH 2CH 2PPh 2 in the presence of (C 2H 5) 3NO as an oxygen atom transfer reagent affords a novel substituted metal carbonyl complex of formula Re 2Cl 2(CO) 6(Ph 2PCH 2CH 2PPh 2), in which the chlorine is presumably extracted from the solvent CHCl 3. An X-ray crystallographic analysis of the new complex has provided evidence for two chlorine and one diphosphine ligands bridging two rhenium atoms, Re(1) and Re(2), coordinated to three terminal COs, respectively.
