Abstract

The potassium crown-ether thiophosphate, [K(18-crown-6)] 2 [P 2S 6]·2 CH 3CN, has been obtained by the reaction of K 2P 2S 6 with 18-crown-6 in acetonitrile. The title compound adopts a molecular array of [K(18-crown-6)] 2 [P 2S 6] wherein two K(18-crown-6) units are linked by the P 2S 6 group. FT-Raman and FT-IR spectra of the title compound have been recorded and interpreted, especially with respect to the P 2S 6 group and in comparison to the few known metal meta-thiodiphosphates.
