Abstract

In this work, an improved method using hexadecyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) and potassium (KOL) as a surfactant mixture was investigated for colloidal gold nanorods (AuNRs) synthesis. This method allows to overcome the limitations in tunability and uniformity of gold nanorods dimensions and reduce the concentration of CTAB and ascorbic acid using in the nanorods growth step compared to the conventional methods in the literature. Furthermore, a vertical self-assemble AuNRs on a Si substrate was produced for surface enhanced Raman scattering application, which can act as an extended nanoantenna.
