Abstract

Phenylethynyl terminated thermosetting polyimide (PI) and PI/multi-wall carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) nanocomposites were prepared via a polymerization process of monomer reactants. The friction and wear behaviors of the PI and PI/MWCNTs nanocomposites were evaluated under dry sliding conditions. The addition of MWCNTs evidently improved the friction and wear properties of PI, and these were considered to be the result of the formation of uniform transfer film and the increase of load-carrying capacity.
