Abstract

Fe2SnSe4 was synthesized by elemental reaction and densified using hot pressing in order to investigate the transport properties. It crystallizes in the orthorhombic space group Pnma with the olivine-type crystal structure. Our report describes results and analyses of the transport properties of Fe2SnSe4, for the first time, and the effect of structure and chemical bonding on the transport properties of this material. In addition, the transport properties were used to estimate the bandgap and mobility of this material. These results are intended to promote a greater understanding of the attributes and capabilities of II2-IV-VI4 materials with the olivine-type crystal structure as they continue to be of interest for different applications, including thermoelectrics.
