Abstract

Nanostructured Bi2Te3 compounds have been synthesized by a circulating reflux method. The morphologies of the nanopowders are mainly related to the surfactants and reactants used in the syntheses. Bi2Te3 nanocomposites were obtained by hot-pressing the mixture of nano and micro-powders of Bi2Te3 in different ratios. It is found that the electrical transport properties of the nanocomposites are different from conventional Bi2Te3 alloys. Electrical conductivity increased while the Seebeck coefficient changed from positive to negative with increasing temperature.
