Abstract
2-Methylthio-6-amino-8-azapurine (II). A mixture of 3 g of 2-methylthio-4,5,6-triaminopyrimidine [4] and 5 ml of glacial acetic acid in 40 ml of water is heated to 40~ and then 2.5 g of NaNOz in 10 ml of water are added with stirring. The mixture is stirred for 1 h and cooled. The precipitate is separated and crystalllzed from 130 ml of absolute alcohol. Yellowlsh crystals, yield of II is 1.8 g (56.4%), mp 282~ (beginning of decomposition). Imax, nm (log ~): 244 (4.23), 284-286 (3.92). PMR spectrum, 8, ppm: 2.71 s (SCH3). Found, %~ N 45.95; S 17.62. CsH6N~S. Calculated, %: N 46.15; S 17.58.
