Abstract
Macromolecular metal complexes (MMC) can be classified into three main groups (Chap. 1.) considering the “chemical” of binding of a metal compound (MXn) to suitable macroligands or higher functional ligands: Type I MMC, described in Chap. 2.2, are those with the metal ion or metal complex binding in the side chain of an organic polymer or on the surface of an inorganic high molecular weight compound. The general route of type I synthesis is usually as follows: support → support functionalization → interaction with MXn → separation of unbound reagents. Another possibility uses the polymerization of vinyl group substituted metal complexes (or ligand followed by metalation).
