Abstract

Cp*{sub 2}Zr(Se)CO (Cp = {eta}{sup 5}-C{sub 5}Me{sub 5}), an example of a nonclassical d{sup 0} transition-metal carbonyl complex, has been synthesized by the reaction of Cp{sub 2}Zr(CO){sub 2} with elemental Se (ca. 1 equiv) at 50{degree}C. The CO ligand in Cp{sub 2}Zr(Se)CO is labile and is rapidly displaced by pyridine to give Cp{sub 2}Zr(Se)(NC{sub 5}H{sub 5}). 26 refs., 2 figs., 1 tab.
