Abstract

Bis(tetraphenylantimony) tetrachlorophthalate (I) has been synthesized by the reaction between pentaphenylantimony and tetrachlorophthalic acid in toluene. According to X-ray diffraction data, an antimony atom in a molecule of compound I has a distorted trigonal bipyramidal coordination. The axial CSb(1,2)O angles are 170.14(6)° and 1175.31(6)°, and the equatorial CSb(1,2)C angles are 117.78(7)°–119.83(7)° and 117.95(7)°–120.05(7)°, respectively. The Sb(1,2)-O and Sb(1,2)-C bond length are 2.474(1), 2.310(1)A and 2.098(2)–2.147(2), 2.100(2)–2.164(2) A, respectively.
