Abstract

A reaction of $$[{\text{Cp}'''}_{\text{2}}\,\text{NdI}]$$ (1) (Cp′′′ = 1,3,4-tris(tert-butyl)cyclopentadienide) with BzK (Bz = C6H5CH2) in toluene is studied. The result of this reaction was expected to be Bz–substitution for I–, however, it is found that the main reaction product is a new binuclear neodymium complex [(Cp′′′BzNd)2O] (2), containing a bridging oxygen atom. Structures of (1) and (2) are determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis.
