Abstract

The molecular structure of the potassium salt of a bulky primary phosphane, namely (2,6-dimesitylphenyl)phosphane, is reported featuring a centrosymmetric distorted transoid four-step ladder-type arrangement in the solid state which is composed of four KP(H)Dmp units. The potassium atoms are “solvated” to different degrees through π interaction with mesityl rings of the Dmp ligands. No classical Lewis bases are coordinated to the metal centers.
