Abstract

Reactions of Cp*MCl4 (Cp* = C5Me5, M = Mo, W) with the silanetriol (2,6-i-Pr2C6H3)N(SiMe3)Si(OH)3 yield organosoluble metallasiloxanes of the type Cp*MoO[(2,6-i-Pr2C6H3)N(SiMe3)]2Si2O3(OH)2 (1) and Cp*WO[(2,6-i-Pr2C6H3)N(SiMe3)]2Si2O3(OH)2 (2) possessing the MSi2O3 core. The above-mentioned compounds can easily be oxidized to the corresponding acyclic products containing a chain of two condensed silanetriol moieties bound to the metal as Cp*MoO2[(2,6-i-Pr2C6H3)N(SiMe3)]2Si2O2(OH)3 (3) and Cp*WO2[(2,6-i-Pr2C6H3)N(SiMe3)]2Si2O2(OH)3 (4). However, the reactions of the isoelectronic organosilyltriamide (2,6-i-Pr2C6H3)N(SiMe3)Si(NH2)3 with Cp*MoCl4 resulted in the formation of a mononuclear product Cp*MoCl2N[Si(NH2)2N(SiMe3)(2,6-i-Pr2C6H3)] (5) containing a MoN triple bond.
