Abstract
The 2-(p-nitrophenyl) thiazolidine (hereafter called 2PNPT) has medicinal importance, as the five-membered thiazolidine ring happens to be the active part of penicillin. This material is synthesised and the crystal structure has been solved. The absorption peaks pertaining to NH, NCS, aromatic C6H4 and C – NO2 have been identified from the infrared spectrum of 2PNPT. The Proton Magnetic Resonance (PMR) spectrum of the sample supports to propose the molecular structure of the compound.
