Abstract
The synthesis, spectral characterisation and X-ray structure determination of the first zinc(II) ferrocenedicarboxylate [Zn(1,1′-Ferdc)(1-methylimidazole) 2] 2, 1, (1,1′-H 2ferdc = 1,1′-ferrocenedicarboxylic acid) is described. The molecular structure of 1 consists of a centrosymmetric cyclic dimer exhibiting a slightly distorted tetrahedral geometry around the zinc atoms. The ferrocenedicarboxylic acid acts as a syn-bound O,O′-bridging ligand.
