Abstract
[Pt 3Au(μ 2-CO) 3(PCy 3) 4](PF 6) (Cy = cyclohexyl) has been synthesised from [Pt 3(μ 2-CO) 3(PCy 3) 3], and AuClPCy 3 in benzene and characterised by IR, NMR ( 31P{ 1H}) and a single crystal X-ray crystallographic analysis. It represents the first example of a tetrahedral platinum-gold cluster compound, with the AuPCy 3 fragment occupying an apical site above the Pt 3(CO) 3(PCy 3) 3 triangle.
