Abstract

Abstract Six new [Pd(acac)2PR3] complexes have been prepared from the reactions of [Pd(acac)2] with PR3 (R = Ph-p-F, Ph-p-Cl, Ph-p-CH3, Ph-p-OCH3, Ph-p-N(CH3)2, cyclohexyl) in diethyl ether at room temperature. Comparisons of UV, IR, 1H NMR, 31P NMR and 13C NMR spectra with those previously reported for [Pd(acac)2(PPh3)] demonstrate that these acetylacetonate complexes all have the structure [Pd(O,O-acac)(γ-C-acac)(PR3)], in which one acac− ligand is bidentate, coordinated through oxygen atoms, while the other is monodentate, ligated through the γ-carbon atom.
