Abstract
Abstract Fourteen rare earth(III) complexes REL3 -nH2O (where RE = Sc, n = 5; RE = Y, La, Ce, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Yb, n = 6; RE = Pr, Nd, n = 4; HL = 1 -(N-carboxymethy1-N-pheny1)amino-acetyl-2′,4′-dinitrophenylhydrazine), have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, conductance measurements, magnetic moments, IR, 1H NMR, electronic spectra, TG and DTA. Their nephelauxetic ratio (ß), bonding parameter (b½), Sinha's parameter (δ%) and covalency angular overlap parameter (δ%) have been determined for the Pr.3+, Nd3+and Er3+ complexes.
