Abstract
ABSTRACT A novel series of hexacatenars consisting of a central naphthalene core functionalised with 1,2,3-triazole dendritic wings at 1 and 8 positions were synthesised by Sonogashira coupling and Click reactions. POM, DSC and XRD investigations revealed that all hexacatenars could self-assemble into absolutely Colhex/p6 mm mesophase in the bulk state. Interestingly, these compounds could gel some organic solvents with low critical gelation concentration and the gel morphologies varied from 3D porous structures via nanofiber structures to 3D spherical aggregates with increasing polarity of solvents. These investigations provide a new strategy to generate supramolecular self-assembly materials.
