Abstract
The samples of ultraviolet (UV)-excited Eu3+-doped Na3Y(BO3)2 phosphor with different reaction temperatures and various concentrations of Eu3+ ions content are synthesised and their photoluminescence (PL) properties are investigated. It is found that the optimal reaction temperature and Eu3+-doped concentration are 800°C and 12.5%, respectively. The phosphor not only has stronger UV PL intensity but also shows excellent chromaticity and broader range of characteristic emission wavelength. Furthermore, a new phenomenon is observed. By altering the reaction temperatures, the peak positions of the highest intensity are divided into two types, which is due to the competition between two kinds of emission, resulting from the split of 5D0 level.
