Abstract

A complete series of mono-, bis-, tris- and tetrakis-(pentafluorophenyl)gallium compounds has been obtained from the reactions of GaCl 3 and GaBr 3 with Mg(C 6F 5)Br. The complexation behaviour of Ga(C 6F 5) 3·(C 2H 5), with N-donor molecules has been studied; 1 : 1 adducts with pyridine, diethylamine, tert/butyl amine and aniline as well as the uncompleted Ga(C 6F 5) 3 and [(n-C 4H 9) 4 N][Ga(C 6F 5) 4] have been obtained pure. All the compounds were characterized by NMR spectroscopy, mass spectrometry and elemental analysis, and some IR spectra were recorded.
