Abstract
The nonmagnetic 5d transition metal Ir has been successfully doped at Fe site in CeFeAsO using a solid-state reaction method. The synthesized CeFe1−x Ir x AsO (x = 0, 0.05, 0.1, 0.15, 0.2) compounds possess the tetragonal ZrCuSiAs-type structure with the space group P4/nmm. It can be observed that the spin-density wave in CeFeAsO is definitely suppressed by Ir doping. Different from the cases in SmFeAsO and GdFeAsO, Ir doping in CeFeAsO can not induce superconductivity down to 5 K, instead, semiconductor-like behavior is observed in the present system.
