Abstract

Five new compounds of the β-M′ xGaW 9M 3O 40 · nH 2O type, where M′ = K +, Na + or H +, M = Mn II, Co II, Ni II, Fe III, V V, have been synthesized from the trivacant Keggin structure tungstogallate β-[GaW 9O 34H] 10− precursor and characterized by IR, UV spectra, CV, NMR, ESR, μ eff and DTA determinations. A linear correlation between the WO vibration frequencies and the electronegativities of the transition elements for M 2+ was found.
