Abstract

The novel cyclotriphosphazene compounds bearing mono- and distyryl BODIPY substituents were synthesized and characterized by the standard spectroscopic techniques such as 1H, 13C and 31P NMR, mass spectrometry (MALDITOF) and FT-IR spectroscopy and elemental analysis as well. The photophysical properties of these novel cyclotriphosphazene compounds were investigated in tetrahydrofuran (THF) solutions. The singlet oxygen generation ability of these compounds was also investigated depends on the addition of an acid solution. It was found that the singlet oxygen producing ability of the dyes was dramatically increased under the acidic conditions when compared to the initial state, and these results indicate that these dyes can be potential singlet oxygen photosensitizers.
